Review: WOTLK Collector’s Edition

Posted in: General WoW Updates by admin on December 28, 2008

Hi everyone,

It’s been a busy, busy holiday for me, and I haven’t gotten in as much gaming as usual. Not that I’m complaining, of course! Anyway this week since I’m behind on reviews and whatnot I wanted to give you a look at the Wrath of the Lich King Collector’s Edition.

I was curious myself as to what such a thing might have to offer that would be worth paying more for, so I did a little research. Amazon has the collector’s edition listed at $99.98, while the regular version costs just $39.99. So what accounts for the huge difference? From Amazon’s description:

“– The Art of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, a 208-page book featuring never-before-seen images from the game. [This could be neat, I must admit, if it has concept sketches and things like that.]

- An exclusive in-game pet: Frosty, the baby frost wyrm. [A little frivolous and silly if you ask me]

– A behind-the-scenes DVD containing over an hour of developer interviews, the Wrath of the Lich King intro cinematic with director’s commentary, and more. [cool if you're interested in how it was made]

– The official soundtrack CD, containing 21 epic tracks from the game, along with exclusive bonus tracks.  [Come on. You're really going to listen to this stuff on your ipod when you're not playing?]

– A mouse pad featuring a map of the newly opened continent of Northrend. [Drooool...]

– Two World of Warcraft Trading Card Game March of the Legion starter decks, along with two exclusive cards available only in the Collector’s Edition.” [I don't play the card game but I guess if you did, this might be a worthwhile perk.]

So, let’s see… I would say that possibly 20-30% of those extras would be worth paying for, MAYBE. But I guess if it’s a gift for the WoW lover in your life, or if you just have a lot of disposable income, there are a couple fun things in this collector’s edition. Me, I’ll save my money for buying WoW gold :P

Seasons greetings, gamers!

There’s nothing like snow and freezing temperatures outside to make you want to settle down in front of that warm computer screen with a good game, am I right? And if, like me, you decided not to wait for someone else to buy you a copy of WotLK, you have been in WoW heaven for the last couple of weeks.

So… I do have a little money left over from my holiday shopping, and I’m thinking that maybe it’s time to buy myself a little something, to thank myself for being so great. And what could be better than turning that boring old cash into cold hard WoW Gold? You might want to think about it, too. Not only is the exchange rate great, but you can buy really awesome stuff with it (or frivolous Winter Veil garb) or buy really awesome stuff and then turn around and sell it for even more WoW gold. Either way, you can’t go wrong! Still, it’s best to be cautious with that Christmas money, and I want to make sure that if you decide to buy WoW gold, you don’t get scammed and you don’t end up paying more than you have to. That’s why we do all the legwork for you, testing out companies to pass along only the most legitimate to you. We have a favorite around here, a site called Toonstorm.com. Their prices are competitive and they deliver on their promises, which is more than we can say for a lot of them out there. So check them out and best wishes for a safe, happy, and fun-filled holiday season!

Buy wow gold yet?

One of the things I’ve done for this blog is track gold prices; and as a casual buyer I’ve tracked gold prices for a long time now.

I can say beyond any doubt they are at some of the LOWEST prices I’ve ever seen. Normally when a new patch comes out (WotLK) prices shoot up pretty good because there is normally higher demand, more people buying mounts, more people repairing or enchanting etc. With the ability to get up to level 80 now, and so mark Death Knights around without a profession I figured there’d be a lot of gold MADE but even more USED, but it actually seems to have balanced out quite well.

I’ve done some price comparisons based on the places we’ve run test purchases through and right now Toonstorm.com is running some 17-20$ 1k wow gold specials. I think that’s a pretty solid price for the service and delivery time on that website. It just so happens I still have a discount code coupon from a story we did on them a while back; use this when making your purchase:

The code is: VIPONLY
This code will give us 5% off any purchase
I’d really suggest if you plan on buying gold in the near future look at buying now; these are some of the lowest prices I’ve seen in some time and I think they will have to come up eventually.

Thanks for reading!
